Roy Cleveland Sullivan of the United States is perhaps the only person to have been struck by lightning seven times. His first lightning strike occurred in 1942 when he was in a look-out tower; he lost a nail on his big toe. The second strike occurred in 1969 while he was driving a car, this time he was knocked unconscious and his eyebrows got burned. The third occurred in 1970, while working in his front yard. The fourth in 1972, while in a ranger station, setting his hair on fire. In 1973 a lightning bolt hit him in the head, setting his head on fire again. In 1974 he was struck for the sixth time, while camping. In 1977 he was hit for the seventh time, while he was fishing. It is unknown if he has been struck since 1977. He died in 1983 from natural causes.
